Built a Custom Event CRM for Global Race Tracking and Management

Managing large racing events through disconnected systems created difficulties across registrations, participant data, tracking, and on-ground coordination. Ragnar needed a purpose-built Event CRM capable of supporting its unique race operations, live events, and growing runner community.

• Ragnar’s race model required more than a conventional registration or event booking platform. Bytes Technolab designed a custom Event CRM architecture around the way its road relays, trail races, runners, volunteers, and administrators operated.
• The platform was developed using Angular.js and TypeScript, with PostgreSQL supporting structured event, participant, and operational data. A centralized administration panel gave internal teams the ability to manage races, registrations, runners, volunteers, sub-administrators, reports, and master event data.
• AWS Cloud provided the scalable infrastructure required to support growing registrations, real-time activity, and peak event traffic. The cloud setup also made it easier to introduce new modules and expand the platform as Ragnar’s race formats and operational needs evolved.
• Firebase-supported capabilities helped enable real-time updates, alerts, and runner-related communication. Tracking functionality gave event teams greater visibility into participants on the course, while self-check-in features simplified arrival and checkpoint workflows.
• Existing event and participant data was migrated into the new ecosystem without disturbing ongoing race activities. The migration improved data accessibility and reduced the inconsistencies created by years of working across different CRM systems.
• Payment gateways, reporting tools, analytics platforms, and marketing integrations were connected to support registrations, campaign activities, and event performance monitoring. These integrations brought multiple operational workflows into one coordinated digital environment.
• Extensive testing covered registration journeys, authentication, tracking, alerts, administrative controls, reporting, and system performance. This helped ensure the Event CRM remained dependable during both virtual and on-ground racing events.
